NTT DOCOMO Ventures Invests in Pixie Dust Technologies, Inc., a Company Advancing Healthcare and Digital Transformation Through Wave Control Technology

NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO & CCO: Yuko Sasahara; hereinafter, “NDV”) is pleased to announce that, through a fund that it manages, it has invested in Pixie Dust Technologies, Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & Co-founder: Yoichi Ochiai; Co-founder: Taiichiro Murakami; hereinafter “PxDT”), a company advancing healthcare and digital transformation through its proprietary wave control technology.

PxDT is a company that creates products designed to solve social challenges by combining computer science with its proprietary wave control technology, which manipulates phenomena such as sound and light.

In the healthcare field, where it applies wave control technology to the human body to tackle health issues through innovative approaches, PxDT is collaborating with a major pharmaceutical firm to co-develop products such as the “kikippa Earphone,” an open-ear headphone featuring gamma wave sounds designed to support healthy brain habits. In the space and acoustics field, where it applies wave control technology to spatial design to address challenges related to sound environments and communication in offices, facilities, and construction sites, PxDT offers “iwasemi,” a solution addressing issues in offices and construction sites with metamaterials that make use of structural properties, and “TOTTARROW,” a digital transformation service designed to streamline quality control and construction management, which was jointly developed with a major construction company. Through these and various other co-creation initiatives with different companies, it continues to generate new value. Since its founding in 2017, PxDT has undertaken more than 108 research and development projects, 16 of which have been commercialized as products and services, driving the expansion of its business.

By uniting technology and business, the NTT DOCOMO Group is working with its partners to create new value.
