NTT DOCOMO Ventures Invests in Fileforce

NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Inc. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO, Takayuki Inagawa; hereinafter, “NDV”) has invested, through its fund, in Fileforce, Inc. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; CEO, Aram Sargsyan; hereinafter, “Fileforce”), which provides cloud-based file storage services.

Many companies store files in facilities owned and operated by themselves, but such facilities require significant costs and resources for maintenance; thus companies are moving to a cloud environment. As alternative systems to the current on-premises, online storage services had their own issues: difficulties in migrating the folder structure and permission settings of on-premises, inability to fully customize access settings, and costs that do not match the value.

Fileforce is a venture company that provides highly recognized cloud-based file storage services to more than 300 clients at present. Its solutions allow clients to create the same folder structure with their on-premise file storages, while providing the permission management and flexible access control by system administrators and streaming access to files in the cloud, allowing users to view and edit files remotely with ease. Users can also seamlessly access files in the cloud storage area because the Windows OS recognizes the area as a local disk. In addition, the file sharing functionality promotes business collaboration within a company or with external partners.

The investment in Fileforce promotes solutions that leverage both NTT Group’s cloud services and Fileforce’s technologies, accelerating NDV’s efforts to create new values.
